BIO

For Austin, Texas, native Chris Roberts, musical talent has always come naturally. Chris is a self-taught musician, who feels most alive when creating and expressing himself through a collision of music, art and sports. In addition to his natural musical abilities, Chris’ talents infuse through a variety of roles including singer, songwriter, producer, business owner and athlete.

Throughout the years, Chris has planted roots in many different locations including the High Rockies of Aspen, Colorado and most recently - Joshua Tree, California. This mosaic of geographical influence can be heard within every account of Chris’ unique sound and lyrical content. Chris’ music is a fusion characterized by the deep soul of his Texas roots and the laid-back, artful life of mountain living. His lyrics are solidly written with heavy influences of Southern rock, Americana, Raw and Outlaw Country music. His innovative, yet powerful hooks are relatable and make you want to turn it up and hit repeat!

“All of my writing is built on emotions; things that I have felt. I am telling a story from alternate points of view from different parts of my life.”

It is no secret that the Chris Roberts sound is as unique as the artist himself.

As a young boy who was raised in the great state of Texas, Chris’ inherent interests were mainly sports and hunting. Into his teen years, Chris was a prominent fixture on the baseball field, drawing the attention of prominent baseball scouts.

“At a young age, it was through sports where I learned dedication and hard work.”

In ’99, Chris went on a road trip to Colorado to see a concert and the experience changed the direction of his life entirely.

“That’s basically when I decided maybe I should hang up my cleats and buy a guitar.”

Chris bought a cheap guitar but continued college and playing baseball. When he decided to leave the baseball field, he took on any form of employment he could get; the local car wash, bird feed stores, laying floors, automobile sales, ranch hand, hunting and fishing guide, real estate, you name it.

Fast forward to 2015, when Chris relocated to Aspen, Colorado, and opened his first store, Aspen Hatter. It was there that he established himself as a successful self-made entrepreneur in making custom hats. Chris’ hats are handcrafted and heartfelt which are sought after by many artists, celebrities, and cowboys alike. Chris later opened his second Aspen Hatter location in his hometown Austin, Texas. Aspen Hatter is now exclusively located in Austin.

After opening his first store, Chris really got to kick up his boots and get focused on playing guitar. In 2018, a commercial was filmed at Aspen Hatter. After the shoot, Chris was asked to play a song on his guitar. Impressed, the commercial producer then asked what Chris’ plans were in music.

“Since then, it has been a rollercoaster.”

In early 2020, Chris held auditions for band members in Los Angeles and finally hit the road with his music. During mid-tour in March of 2020, however, the pandemic struck and Chris was forced to cancel his remaining tour. That’s how Chris and his band landed in the desert at Joshua Tree Recording Studio. They spent the first 3 weeks of quarantine making music and recording.

Chris Roberts’ first single “Remember That It’s Me” and second single “Hate When You’re Gone” were released in 2020. He followed that up with a fun single “Get Down” along with his first and second EPs Red Feather and Lost And Found, then the incredibly catchy single “Chevy Van” throughout 2021. Single “Life On The Run” dropped in 2022.

Chris Roberts’ music is available on all music platforms. Look for his next single and EP coming out in 2023.

The drive and work ethic that brought many successes to Chris’ life are the same intuitive qualities that have made him a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

“Look, this is not about shining a light on me. To be honest, I really do love to play for people. When I see them making a connection and having a moment because of the music… well, that’s why I do what I do.”
